The fastest way to get it out of your head
Most reminders are lost in the gap between thinking of something and finding the patience to type it. You are holding a bag of shopping, driving up to a red light, or halfway through cooking. The thought arrives, the keyboard does not appeal, and the thought leaves again.
Speaking removes that gap. Tap the microphone, say the whole sentence the way you would say it to a person, and it lands in the message box as text. Nothing is sent while you are talking, and nothing is scheduled until you say so.
Transcribed on our own servers, then discarded
Plenty of apps add a microphone by handing your audio to someone else. We do not. The recording goes to our own United States based servers, is turned into text there, and is discarded straight away. It is never written to a disk, never shared with another company, and never used to train anything.

Hands busy, or typing is simply hard
Dictation is a convenience for some people and a genuine accessibility feature for others. Arthritis, tremor, low vision and simple unfamiliarity with a phone keyboard all make typing a barrier. Speaking a sentence is something almost everyone can do comfortably.
It also suits longer messages. A reminder with a bit of context, the kind you would actually say to someone, is tiring to thumb out and quick to speak.

Speak a reminder in three steps
Tap the microphone
Open a new reminder and tap the microphone in the message box. Say the reminder out loud, in a normal voice.
Read it back and edit
Your words appear as text. Fix a name, add a detail, or rewrite it entirely. Nothing is scheduled until you are happy with it.
Pick a time and a recipient
Choose one time or a repeating schedule, pick who it goes to, and it sends as a real text message.

Is my voice recording saved anywhere?
No. The audio is sent to our own servers, turned into text there, and discarded immediately. It is never written to storage, never shared with another company, and never used to train anything.
Does the transcription happen on my phone or on your servers?
On our servers, which is what lets it work the same way on both iPhone and Android. The audio is handled in memory and discarded as soon as the text comes back.
Can I fix it if a word comes out wrong?
Yes. The transcription lands in the message box as ordinary editable text. You can change a word, add to it, or clear it and start again before anything is scheduled.
What if it does not hear anything?
If the recording is silent or too quiet to make out, the app tells you nothing was heard rather than guessing. Speaking a little closer to the phone usually solves it.
Does dictating cost extra?
No. Dictation is part of the app at no additional cost. You only spend a credit when a reminder is actually sent as a text.
Which languages does it understand?
