Why Set Text Go exists

Set Text Go started with one very busy person who was tired of juggling everything in scattered places. Work deadlines lived in one app, family and personal reminders lived in another, and the things that mattered most were the easiest to lose in the shuffle. What was missing was a single, centralized place to keep track of all of it, work and personal, and a way to actually be reminded that did not depend on remembering to open yet another app. That is the app we set out to build.

The idea behind it is simple. Too many important things slip through the cracks, not because people do not care, but because a reminder never reached them. A missed dose of medication. A doctor appointment that came and went. A bill that quietly went past due. Sometimes a word of encouragement that would have made someone's morning, but was never sent.

Most reminder apps try to solve this with a push notification. That works only if the person has a smartphone, has the right app installed, has notifications turned on, and happens to be online at that moment. For a lot of people, one of those things is missing. An elderly parent may carry a basic phone. A busy friend may have every notification silenced. Someone may simply be somewhere with no wifi or data.

So we chose a different path. Set Text Go sends a real SMS text message over the phone network. Because it is a true text, it reaches almost any mobile phone, including basic flip phones, with no app, smartphone, or internet needed on the receiving end. Why a real text instead of a push notification

This is the heart of what we do, so it is worth being clear about. A push notification lives inside an app. It depends on that app being installed, on notification permissions being granted, and on a live internet connection. When any of those conditions is not met, the notification never arrives, and the person may never know it existed.

A text message is different. It is one of the few channels almost everyone can receive and almost everyone actually reads. Around 98% of text messages get read, a widely cited industry figure, and about 9% of U.S. adults have a cellphone but not a smartphone, according to Pew Research Center in 2024, so a text still reaches people that an app cannot. Choosing SMS was not about being clever. It was about giving the reminder the best possible chance of being seen.

A reminder only helps if the right person sees it at the right time. That belief shapes every decision we make.
